About the Role:

The cloud is just someone else's computer. Would you like it to be yours? We have an international, fully remote team working on creating the best virtualization platform around, and we'd like you to join. In this role, you will be helping to manage the underlying hardware powering Civo, working with cutting-edge technology, and making a daily difference supporting users by giving them a platform on which to build awesome new things.

You will get fully involved with the inner workings of virtualization and cloud computing, with opportunities to contribute back to open-source projects and participate at industry conferences around the world. Responsibilities:

• Participate in validating and maintaining the physical hardware (servers & networking) that drives the Civo cloud platform
• Collaborate with other project teams as well as SRE and non-technical teams to deliver features that enhances Civo's overall platform capabilities
• Ensure stability, performance and reliability through comprehensive testing and optimization
• Collaborate with designers, product managers and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in troubleshooting and debugging technical issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or proven related professional experience
  
• 2+ years of professional experience with Linux
  
• 2+ years of professional experience with server hardware
  
• Proven experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, KVM)
  
• Proven experience with scripting or coding languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Go)
  
• Understanding of network and firewalling, including configuration and troubleshooting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with software defined storage technologies (e.g. Ceph)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
• Understanding of cloud-native patterns
• Experience with data centres
• Proximity to the UK M1 corridor to support testing and validation of hardware
